Travel responsibly.
Craft Beer Days is all about getting out to local breweries and sampling beers. If you plan to travel by car, make sure to have a designated driver or to sample in moderation. Ride sharing services and public transportation are also good options to ensure you can enjoy a few drinks without putting yourself and others at risk.
Travel as a group.
Whether it’s just you and your partner or a group of your closest friends, good beer is always enjoyed most in the presence of others. Use this opportunity to connect with old friends or to introduce someone to the wonderful world of craft beers. As an added bonus, when there’s a large group it’s easier to find someone to be the designated driver!
Visit restaurants & other local attractions.
Craft Beer Days doesn’t have to be all about beer! Use the opportunity to get out to a restaurant that you’ve never eaten at or an attraction located nearby. There are amazing places to experience in every community across Ontario (and some of them don’t even brew beer!).
Pre-plan your trips.
Determine ahead of time which breweries (and other destinations) you want to visit and then plan accordingly. Use the maps on the event pages to determine which breweries are clustered together and then set up a schedule that incorporates travel time to ensure that you get out to all of the places that you want to visit.
Arrive ahead of brewery tour times.
Most brewery tours will have a maximum capacity, so arrive early to ensure that you can take part. Some breweries will set out a sign-up list at the bar half an hour before the tour starts, so make sure to get your name on that list as early as possible.
Try the featured beers.
Part of the allure of Craft Beer Days is that you get to try exclusive beers that aren’t generally available. You can order a full pour of the featured beer for $5 or a half pour for $3 (a great option for enjoying responsibly!). Remember to use your Craft Beer Days passport to vote on which featured beer you enjoyed the most.
Order flights instead
of full pours.
Where available, beer flights are a great way to sample the range of beers available at a given brewery. If you happen to be driving, sharing a flight with a friend/partner is also a good way to moderate consumption while still getting the full brewery experience.
Buy something!
One of the advantages of Craft Beer Days over traditional beer festivals is that you have full access to everything that a brewery has to offer. If you try something that you really like, be sure to grab a few cans or bottles to take home.
Check in on social media.
Tag @craftbeerdays and use #craftbeerdays(event name) in your social media posts to let others know where you’ve been and to see what others are up to. Sharing your experience may convince someone else to join in on the fun and can even win you prizes!
Make a Craft Beer Days playlist.
Just like “coffee house” music is a thing, so to is “brewery” music! Craft a playlist of your favourite beer/brewery songs and make them the soundtrack of your Craft Beer Days adventure. Whether you’re on the road or on a patio, music makes everything a little more fun!
